How to get TOP grades in GCSE??? Aum
Google
This is a main question going round in many GCSE student's heads! HOW CAN WE GET TOP GCSE GRADES, WITHOUT BECOMING GEEKS OR NERDS??? Well your search is over, cause i have compiled a list of tips and tricks to help you ace your GCSE. GCSEs can be really stressful at times, especially in year 11, when you are trying to hand in coursework before deadline, you have got your exams on your head and you need to get that awesome ride for the prom etc. Therefore, I made this site to help people who are going through what i have been. Hey by the way, if u have some cools tips and tricks post it below, so we can all use them :)

When you are in year 10:
  1. GCSE usually involve two sectors: coursework and end of year exams. You have to do well in both to get ace grades. Check with your teacher to find out how many % does each courseowrk and exam contribute to your final grade. In some subjects coursework contribute to 60% of your final grade, so you have to do good coursework to get that top grade!!!
  2. In year 10 you don't have that much exam stress, hence it is better that you do most of your coursework in year 10 to the best of your ability.
  3. Don't spend all your time on cousrework, of coursework you have to socialise, have fun and play on your game console!!! Divide your time properly and try to finish your coursework 1 week before the deadline, i know it is fun doing it the night before (i used to do most of my courswork the night before, but it wasn't a pleasent experience) but if you do it earlier then you can do it in peace.
  4. Take your teacher's help and advice, thats what they are there for!! If you don't understand anything just ask them, this is quite helpful in "coursework".
  5. Time is very important, respect it and it will respect you!!! Create yourself a weekly study plan, wherein you will spend only 1.5 hours a day studying and have fun the rest of the time!!! Plan what you are doing and do it! for example, you may want to do 1 hour of coursework and half hour of homework. You could use a study plan like mine.
  6. Stay ahead of the game!!! If you know that your teacher is going to teach a certain topic do a 10-15 min research on it the night before. This will help you understand the topic better when the teacher teaches it. If you dont understand anything, just ask!
  7. Make notes and listen to your teacher carefully, you may feel that i am sounding like a right TP?? But I am not, 15 min of knowledge from teacher is equivalent to 3 hours reaserch on the net or 2 hours of reading.....what would you prefer??
  8. You have as much fun as you can, but just contribute 1.5 hours a day and you will be soooo happpy on your results day!!!
When you are in year 11:
  1. This is when the pressure begins. Coursework, Coursework and that annoying courseowork!!!! ON top of that exam!!!
  2. Organise your time properly and everything will be fine!!! Your might want to increase your study hours to 2 hours a day initially. 1 hour coursework and 1 hour homework, sometimes when coursework pressure is high, you may wanna do extra hours, especially on the weekend!!! You could use a time planner like this.
  3. As exams get close you may want to start thinking about revision, stay ahead of the game!! And begin revision early do 45 min a day and 1 to 1.5 hours when exams get closer.
  4. Ask your teacher to give you revision tips and tell you about the syllabus!!!
  5. Don't do too much revision at once, take frequent breakes. When taking a short break, don't watch TV or play on the PC, instead close your eyes for 10 mins or go outside for a walk.
  6. Don't get stressed about the exams, till the time you are revising everyday, you will be fine.
  7. Don't save coursework for last day, try to finish it quickly but with quality. Try to finish it beforeexmas start to arrive.
  8. Go out, have fun, enjoy yourself, revise a bit and get awesome grades.
  9. Remmember all you have to do is a little hard work, then after your exmas you have 3 months of life in the sun!!!

Revision Techniques:

  1. Different people prefer different ways to revise, but here are a few popular ones:
  2. First find someplace to revise quitly.
  3. Don't revise for more that 60 min at a streach, take a break! dont under do it either, like only 10 mins and a break! Aim to do 45 min.
  4. Eat healthy stuff!!! Try to drink atleast 4-5 glasses of water a day, i don't know why, but it helps!!!
  5. After doing revision session, go hangout and have fun!!! If you need a motivation factor, think about the 90 days holidays after the exams: no school, no homework, only fun!!!!!!
  6. You can make posters of certain topics and paste them around your room. This is helpful for topics which involve drawing e.g. carbon cycle
  7. You can make notes of certain topics, such as science definations. Don't waste all you time on notes.
  8. A good way to revise maths is, do 4 maths questions a day starting weeks before your exam.
  9. You could get some revision books, ask your teachers on that!!!
  10. Teachers can give could advice on revision at times!!!
  11. Don't overdo it !!! Stay focused!!!

Exam Techniques:

  1. First and foremost rule to ace an exam is don't cramp up the night before.
  2. Keep your revision planned. If you stay planned, you won't suffer, trust me!!!
  3. The night before just glance through the main notes and topics. Don't just start a new topic!!!
  4. Sleep early, try to get atleast 8-10 hours of sleep!!!
  5. PAck all the necessary equipment, the night before including spare pen, pencil etc!!!
  6. Don't watch loads of TV, but for some reason music helps!!!
  7. For God sake; don't do any revision in the morning, it will cause chaos!!!
  8. Don't cheat!! What's the point??? What would you rather live as ; an honest soul or a cheater, a loser who isn't brave enough to fight??
  9. Believe in yourself!! If you think, you can do it! YOU CAN DO IT!
  10. In the exam, listen to instructions carefully. Keep a watch, don't keep a mobile phone(you can be kicked out for that!!!).
  11. If you can't answer a question, leave it, come back to it later.
  12. Don't leave any unattempted questions, you might get a lucky mark!
  13. After the exam..................................i don't need to tell you that!!!
  14. Always respect your teachers and friends, cause one day they will respect you, when you need it the most!!!!!
